Thank you for your interest in Player Development Program through The Valley Golf Academy and the First Tee of South Puget Sound.  The goal of this comprehensive program is to build upon the skills our athletes have already acquired through the Player and Par levels of the First Tee Program.  Our instructional staff will emphasize golf fundamentals and advanced concepts integrating technology in order to take the players golf game to the next level.  Please find a brief description of the program options below. 


Skills Development: 

As a supplement to the Birdie Level of First Tee the Skill Development curriculum focuses on core fundamentals that provides a foundation for playing 9 holes of golf.  Areas of focus will include stance, posture, foundation swing techniques, short game enhancement, and on course instruction. 

Goals:  Be able to shoot below 63 for nine holes, hit 50% of greens from 55 to 75 yards, average below 3.5 putts per hole for nine holes.

What is offered:  One-hour and a half group lesson per month (maximum of 5 students per group), one small range bucket each day for practice, one round per week at the Mint Valley Learning Center Par 3.  Access to special events and 20% discounts on merchandise throughout the season.  Students can practice and schedule lessons at either Tumwater Valley (Tumwater) or Mint Valley (Longview) golf courses.  Membership in the Washington State Golf Association Youth on Course Program-includes USGA Handicap Index and significant discounts at regional golf courses.  Students receive discounted rates on private lessons.  All instructors are First Tee Certified.

Price-$50.00 per month-must register for a minimum of two months Offered April-September 

High School Prep Program:

As a supplement to the Eagle Level of the First Tee Program the High School Prep Program curriculum focuses on enhancement of the core fundamentals developed at the Player, Par, and Birdie Levels and provides the foundations for playing 18 holes and being competitive at the high school level.  Focus will be on rules, strategies for competitive play, specialty shots, and scoring.

Goals:  Be able to shoot below 100 for 18 holes, hit 50 % of greens from 80 to 100 yards, hit 50 % of fairways (shots 160-190 yards), average below 2.5 putts per hole for 18 holes.

What is offered:  One-hour group lesson per week (maximum of 8 students per group), one large bucket each day for practice, daily access at the Mint Valley Learning Center Par 3.  Access to special events and 20% discounts on merchandise throughout the season.  Students can practice and schedule lessons at either Tumwater Valley (Tumwater) or Mint Valley (Longview) golf courses. Membership in the Washington State Golf Association Youth on Course Program-includes USGA Handicap Index and significant discounts at regional golf courses. Students receive discounted rates on private lessons.   All instructors are First Tee Certified.

Price-$100.00 per month-must register for a minimum of two months Offered April-September

College Prep Program:

As a supplement to the Ace Level of the First Tee Program the College Prep Program curriculum focuses on enhancement of the core fundamentals developed at the Player, Par, Birdie, and Eagle Levels and provides the foundations for competitive tournament play, development of individualized practice plans, mental game, and strategic approach to golf maximizing your individualized talents.

Goals:  Be able to shoot below 77 for 18 holes, hit 75 % of greens from 80 to 100 yards, hit 75 % of fairways (shots 160-190 yards), average below 2 putts per hole for 18 holes.

What is offered:  One-hour private lesson per week, unlimited range access, daily access at the Mint Valley Learning Center Par 3 and Twilight rounds Tumwater Valley Golf Course.    

Access to special events and 30% discounts on merchandise throughout the season.  Students can practice and schedule lessons at either Tumwater Valley (Tumwater) or Mint Valley (Longview) golf courses.  Integration with Sky Trak Launch Monitor, and a Titleist Performance Institute certified instructor specialized in the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing. Up to three instructors will be available to you all who have received scholarships and have played at the Collegiate Division 1 or 2 level.  Membership in the Washington State Golf Association Youth on Course Program-includes USGA Handicap Index and significant discounts at regional golf courses. All instructors are First Tee Certified.

Price-$150.00 per month-must register for a minimum of two months offered 12 months a year
